First things first, let’s get some basics out of the way. What are your stats (Age, Height, Weight)? Where are you from? Where do you currently reside?
I’m 22 years old, 5’10 and weight 160 lbs! I was born in Miami, Florida, but I’m Cuban. English was actually my second language! Growing up around a very Hispanic family, I was only allowed to speak Spanish at home, and English was used at school! I currently still live in miami.
At what age did you start CrossFit and what inspired you to start?
I started CrossFit my senior year, at the age of 18. I actually started CrossFit because my mom was SUPER into it! She would always be sore, and working out on my own, I never got sore. So I decided to try it out, and fell in love!
What were your goals when you first began doing CrossFit?
I didn’t really have any goals when I first started. It wasn’t until I encountered a very ignorant person who basically told me I couldn’t succeed in the sport of CrossFit because I was “too gay”. I trained enough to compete, and I proved him wrong. I actually ended up competing against him, and I out-lifted him in the Olympic lifting portion of the competition.
Later in life, what are your career aspirations?
Honestly, I have no idea what I want to do. However, I do love helping people when it comes to exercise! So I’m thinking something in that field. I’m thinking about maybe going into dietetics and nutrition, along with personal training.
What advice would you give someone who is interested in or just starting CrossFit?
CrossFit had gotten a bad reputation because “people get hurt”. You can get hurt walking down the street if you’re not paying attention. CrossFit is meant to be done at your own pace and at your own level. Don’t try to compete with the person next to you. Your only competition is yourself. Strive to be better than you were before!
You have a fantastic body! What is your #1 exercise routine that most impacts the results you achieve?
I do a lot of Olympic lifting! My favorite lift is the clean and jerk! I tend to burn muscle quickly so I tend to only do metabolic conditioning 3 times a week!
What is your biggest vice in life?
As crazy as it sounds, the fact that I NEED to work out every day. If I don’t do at least some active stretching, every day, I’m in the worst mood! Don’t even look in my direction. It’s pretty bad.
What are your favorite sin foods?
I can live off of sushi and fried Oreos.
What does your diet look like?
For the most part, I eat pretty clean. Nothing too high in fats or starches. But if I’m craving something, I’m gonna give it to my body. My philosophy is that if you deprive your body of something, you’ll eventually cave in and over do it. So kill the craving on the spot!
How important is diet to your CrossFit training?
Extremely! If you eat like crap, you perform like crap!
What physical aspect do you think most people mention first as being attractive about you?
Well, if I’m clothed, people say I have REALLY sharp cheek bones. But if I’m shirtless, everyone compliments my abs. I really don’t think they’re all that great, but I appreciate it!
What is one thing about your body you most wish you could change?
I have the hole in the middle of my chest that has bothered me since I was a little kid, but I don’t care to go through surgery to fix it! So, I’ve learned to embrace it! It’s part of me!
You recently did a shoot for Andrew Christian, Tell us about that experience.
It was amazing! Everyone was so nice! I got to meet a few of the other models, and they were all so sweet! Everyone that worked on the shoots was so professional and helpful! I loved it!
How would you describe your personality in 3 words?
That’s tough! I would say electric, flamboyant, and fun!
Besides the gym, where would our readers likely find you in your free time?
Probably at rehearsal for the Marlins! Aside from all the working out, CrossFit, and Andrew Christian stuff, I’m also a Major League Baseball cheerleader! So if I’m not at the gym, I’m probably at rehearsal or cheering at the games!
